KOTÁNYI is a byword for top-quality spices. The company has a long history, going back to 1881 when Janos Kotanyi founded a paprika mill in Szeged. Paprika still remains KOTÁNYI's most important product, but, from such modest beginnings, the company has now grown into Austria's leading spice manufacturer, with sales in 19 countries, an annual revenue of over 80 million euros and 450 employees.
KOTÁNYI has now opted for MultiArchive, an ECM solution from Multi-Support running on the widely used IBM iSeries (i5). The paramount aim of the project is to provide support for business processes throughout the entire company, employing tools and technologies for acquiring, managing, archiving and retrieving information that originates from many different applications.
KOTÁNYI invited a number of Europe's leading ECM providers to its headquarters in Wolkersdorf, located in Austria's largest wine-growing district. There the companies had to demonstrate that they were able to fulfill KOTÁNYI's stringent requirements under rigorous test conditions. "We took a long, hard look at all the potential suppliers, and, in the end, we opted for Multi-Support. Their solution impressed us in all departments, both from a functional and financial point of view", said Mr. Wurst, leading the ECM project at KOTÁNYI.
The first project phase is scheduled to begin in September and will include the complete integration of the MOVEX ERP system, migration to MultiArchive of the legacy data from the previous ERP system and implementation of index-based and full-text searching through all archives. KOTÁNYI's numerous sites throughout Europe will be connected to the central archive in the next project phases. The MultiArchive Business Process Management module will be implemented in the final phase of the project, mapping all KOTÁNYI's internal, ISO-certified processes.
